Does Shopify offer protection against website scammers?

How to get scammers out of my website. Does Shopify protect us?

@CafeRon
You get some information regarding it in below link for preventing scammers or frauds

What does a scammer look like? What do they do on your website that is different from a normal customer? How would a website tell the difference between them?

Shopify has plenty of tools that help you make an informed decision when you receive a suspicious order but you need to make the right decision for yourself. If you get an order that’s flagged as medium or high risk and you fulfill it anyway and you get scammed then that’s not something Shopify can protect you from. Nobody can protect you from yourself except yourself :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi, @CafeRon

Thanks for posting to the Community.

Can you tell me more about what you are experiencing? We have several features available from reCaptcha to Fraud Filter, however, we will need to know exactly what you are experiencing to provide you with the best advice.

Thanks in advance!

Block them and ignore them. If you feed them then they will come back for more.

I did but come back on different name.

Was also wondering iff Shopify do something about this.

And like to warn good people to be carefull.

I think the fact that they have teams of people working on tools and algorithms to prevent fraud counts as doing something about it. They even provide these tools to you and instructions on how to take advantage of them. They can’t send people out to the homes of these people sending emails and take their computers away. Even if they did, they could probably go to a local library and use the computers there or borrow their friend’s phone and the emails would continue. If it’ll truly help you to see the words, then “Be Careful!”. But just know that you’re the one that needs to be careful now, the responsibility is in your hands :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for that context, @CafeRon

I would love to take a look at your site so I can see what preventative measures you have in place. It sounds like bots could be accessing your contact form. If that is the case it means you don’t have a reCaptcha enabled. It’s important to add a reCaptcha to ensure the bots are stopped in their tracks.

However, if these individuals are instead using your public email to send you messages there isn’t much we can do about that. The only way to prevent this is to only have a contact form on your site and remove your email. That, however, isn’t recommended as you want a direct email for your customers to access.

They come in my shopify chat.

Hi, @CafeRon

As a last resort, one option is to use an app like Blacklist IP & Country Blocker. You can easily block the countries or locations that you think these individuals are contacting you from.

Does it work if they are using a VPN?
