Does the customer always need to enter an email at POS?

Square can automatically detect an email address after card swipe for the purposes of sending a receipt; is there anything similar for Shopify POS? Or do customers always need to enter their email address to receive a receipt. We have some regular customers that are getting annoyed at having to do so (or alternately wait for the clerk to lookup their information). I’m hoping there’s a config that enables this, but I’m guessing Shopify more securely guards PAN information which makes that matching all the more difficult.
