Domain, 2 Stores, Can't connect

I have been having a terrible time with my shopify account. I have signed up for the Basic Plan and started creating my store for: (xxxac3)

I also signed up for the Starter Plan where I had someone build a store:
(xxxx9f)
The domain is no longer connected to my original store (xxxac3) and I am unable to view it.
I view domain info for this store and it looks correct to me but when I check domain it says not connected/not verified. When I look at the other store (xxxx9f) it doesn’t look like it’s connected to my domain.

What I would like to do is close (xxxx9f) and cancel that (Starter) plan. Then I would like to focus on my original store (xxxac3)
How do I do this? Is this something Shopify can do on your end? I really don’t know what to do from here. If this is done, can I remove the domain or do I have to start from scratch to set up my domain? If so, I need some guidance.
feel free to email me support@poppychic.net
Thank you, DMHenry

Hi @DMHenry

Thank you for those details about the issue you are trying to resolve. I do need clarify a few things before I can give you the best next steps.

Is this domain paid for and hosted through Shopify or through a third party domain host?

If it is hosted on Shopify and needs to be transferred from one store to another, please contact our authenticated support to make that request. You will need access to the account owner login for both stores.

If the domain is hosted on a third party domain host you will want to sign into the original store and ensure the domain is disconnected from within the admin. Once that is done you can then connect the domain in the current store you want to use. The DNS information for the domain should not need any changes to transfer which store it points to.

Domain is paid for and hosted through third party domain host - Domain.com

Signed in to original store - Domain is not connected (see below)

How do I ensure the domain is disconnected from within the admin on Domain.com? is this (23.227.38.65 ) the connection to Shopify? It says N/A - is this why the domain is not connected?

    DNS & NAMESERVERS

    Record Name Content Priority

    A [email removed] 23.227.38.65 n/a

    CNAME www shops.myshopify.com n/a

Thank you for the additional screenshot!

The current DNS setup for the A and CNAME record looks correct. The priority for those DNS records set to “n/a” should also be fine.

From the screenshot, it looks like your domain is poppychic.net. When I examine the DNS for poppychic.net I am seeing a few issues with what DNS information is currently being reported by the domain host. If you have made changes it can take up to 48 hours for those changes to take effect.

  • A [email removed] record reporting incorrect
  • CNAME www record reporting incorrect
  • No AAAA record (should be a Shopify provisioned AAAA record)
  • No nameservers

You can also check on most of the DNS records propagation progress using a tool like DNS Checker.

In response to your info above:

  • A [email removed] record reporting incorrect
  • CNAME www record reporting incorrect
  • No AAAA record (should be a Shopify provisioned AAAA record)
  • No nameservers

I don’t remember making any changes. Here is what shows for the remaining DNS records.

I can check back and see if there were any changes. In the meantime, will there be any issues with moving forward and removing the second store and canceling that Starter Plan?

Based on those screenshots it should be okay, but I am not a domain expert. We will need to wait a bit to see if the DNS information updates to reflect the current DNS settings you have with your domain host.

There is no issues at all closing the original store and continuing with the other store. The third party domain information is separate from that and should resolve itself.

Thank you so much for checking on this and all your assistance!! You have been SOOO very helpful.

I’ll move forward with closing the other store. I’ll check back with the DNS/Domain in another day and go from there. Can I reach you here if needed?

You betcha! I won’t be in office on Saturday or Sunday, but you can reply back here and myself or another community moderator will be happy to assist further.

Hi Shay. Just wanted to touch back with you and let you know that it was a problem with my DNS Record in my Domain. I contacted them and they have corrected the issue.
