I built a website for my client and i am having issues with the primary domain. It is with ‘namecheap’ so it connected to shopify easily and the dns settings are fine. But the social sharing and SEO won’t change from the myshopify.com domain (see below) also it will ot index in google.
I pulling my hair out to work out why it isn’t working properly and my customer doesnt have a clue.
Can anyone help?
Is this a namecheap domain issue? I uually use GoDaddy and never have an issue.
It’s probably not the Namecheap issue as such but, how Shopify handles the domain settings. Ensure that the custom domain is the primary domain in your Shopify admin, and “Redirect all traffic to this domain” is enabled. Also, resubmit your sitemap in Google search console from the right domain.
If you notice this situation from Shopify admin page, it is actually not an issue, as Shopify shows the store url ending with myshopify.com, rather than .com. Therefore it is normal to display like this actually. But if you notice the page URL in Google Search ending with myshopify.com, this means your store page URL is not updated correctly and you may need to have a further check in Google Search Console if there exist related detection issues with store URLs. After optimizing and correcting, this issue may no longer appear anymore. A kind reminder here and best luck of your store!
