domain verification

so i updated my shopify shop to use my domain name. it seems to work fine when i go to the site. no cert errors. dns resolves fine. but shopify still reports “Needs attention” beside it on the domains page. what else do i need to do?

also, i setup my dmarc records according to the shopify admin instructions, but then online the instructions appear to be a bit different. how can i double check email/dmarc is all correct. is there an online checker of some sort i can use?

Hello @WBWBWBWB

Shopify Domain Verification Steps:1. Update DNS Settings (via your domain registrar):

  • A Record: Point [email removed] to 23.227.38.65.
  • CNAME Record: Point www to shops.myshopify.com.
  • Remove any conflicting DNS records.
  1. Add Domain in Shopify:

    • Go to Settings > Domains in Shopify.
    • Click Connect existing domain.
    • Enter your domain and follow the prompts.
  2. Wait for DNS Propagation:

    • Changes may take up to 48 hours. Check updates with WhatsMyDNS.
  3. Troubleshoot:

    • Verify DNS records for typos or conflicts.
    • Ensure SSL is active (can take 24 hours after DNS is correct).

If issues persist, contact Shopify Support with screenshots of your DNS settings.

Hello @WBWBWBWB

To solve these issues,

First, double-check your DNS settings. Make sure the A Record points to 23.227.38.65 and the CNAME is set to shops.myshopify.com. These settings are crucial for your domain to work correctly with Shopify. If SSL activation is taking longer than expected, it could take 24-48 hours for it to fully propagate. You can recheck your domain status under Online Store > Domains in Shopify to see if the SSL is active. Lastly, ensure your custom domain is set as the primary domain in Settings > Domains in your Shopify admin.

To confirm your DMARC settings are correctly configured, use a tool like the MXToolbox DMARC Checker. Simply enter your domain to check if the DMARC record is properly set up. The typical format for a DMARC record should look like this:
v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc-reports@yourdomain.com; ruf=mailto:dmarc-reports@yourdomain.com;. Ensure that it points to the correct email addresses for receiving DMARC reports.

If the issues persist, we can go on a call if you don’t mind so I can explain how to go about it while you share your screen

only flag on the toolbox checker is:

is that needed?
