Don't know how to choose domain email or personal Gmail?

I’m trying to decide whether to use my regular Gmail address (like [email removed] .com) or a branded domain email (like [email removed] com) for SMTP. Does using a domain email really make a big difference in how professional the messages look or whether they reach the inbox? I’d love to hear what other store owners are using and whether it affects customer trust or deliverability.

Hey @Hunterofmoney

If you wanna keep it professional then it’s highly recommended by everyone to use your domain email instead of Gmail address emails as it helps in gaining trusts by clients and customers.

Best,
Moeed

Hey @Hunterofmoney! Yes — using a branded domain email does make a difference. It looks much more professional, builds customer trust, and gives you better email deliverability because you can authenticate your domain (SPF/DKIM). A regular Gmail address can look unprofessional and is more likely to land in spam. Most store owners use something like support@yourstore.com for this reason.

Hi @Hunterofmoney , whenever people see a domain email they give it an priority and the trust level will be higher. A gmail can do its job. But if you have the option to choose domain email, just go for it.

Hi there! I agree that a branded email looks professional and more legitimate. However, I recommend starting with Gmail. Don’t stress or waste money on another subscription to get your branded email at the beginning. Focus on more important areas and save the money for something else. If you have the finances to do it, go for it!

Definitely recommend a branded! It’s super cheap to set up too. Go Daddy is someone I’ve used for years, even though their interface kind of sucks and bugs out a lot

Using a generic free email sends all kinds of red flags. If you’re serious about operating a business, you need business company information like email.

Yeah, using a domain email usually looks more professional and can help with deliverability. Gmail works, but it feels more personal and some customers don’t trust it for business messages. With a domain email, you can also set up SPF/DKIM, which improves inbox placement. If you already have a store domain, it’s worth using.
