Driving Sales to our website

Topic summary

A Shopify store owner approaching their one-year anniversary seeks guidance on driving traffic, specifically through Facebook/Instagram promotion and SEO, acknowledging limited technical expertise.

Key recommendations provided:

Social Media Strategy:

  • Integrate Facebook & Instagram sales channels directly in Shopify
  • Post 3-5 times weekly with relevant hashtags (#RunningGear, #AnniversarySale)
  • Run low-budget ads ($5-10/daily) with Facebook Pixel tracking
  • Engage audiences through contests and comment responses

SEO Optimization:

  • Research keywords using Google Keyword Planner (e.g., “cheap jog gear”)
  • Optimize product pages with 200-300 word descriptions and image alt text
  • Launch a blog with 1-2 monthly posts linking to products
  • Install apps like Tiny SEO or Smart SEO for automated optimization
  • Ensure mobile-friendly theme and integrate Google Analytics

Anniversary Campaign Timeline:

  • Pre-launch: Set up channels, optimize pages, install SEO tools
  • During: Offer 10-20% discounts, allocate $50 ad budget, post daily
  • Post-event: Analyze performance data

Additional feedback: One commenter suggests hiring a developer to improve visual consistency (noting inconsistent image sizes) and implementing targeted ad campaigns before broader efforts.

My Shopify website www.run2rungear.com will celebrate our 1 year anniversary in June. I am so NOT techy so I need all the help I can get. I do know there are ways to boost from FB and IG but I need to learn that as well as search engine optimization and it’s ALL about words.

Manual for improving your Shopify store through Facebook, Instagram and SEO using few words and easy steps.

Facebook & Instagram Boosting

— Add “Facebook & Instagram” on Shopify’s Sales Channels: Include a section of shopify for this. Ensure that you sync the products and turn on checkout. Write some interesting descriptions (e. g., “20% off running shoes for our 1-year anniversary!”).

Share Posts Often: Post 3-5 pictures or Reels every week (e. g., “?‍ :female_sign: Join our Anniversary Sale! #Run2RunGear”). Put hashtags such as #RunningGear, #AnniversarySale.

Run Ads: Create $5-$10/day ad targeting people who use the Shopify theme editor. Make sure to use a strong font (e. g., “Shop our 1-Year Anniversary Sale!”). Add Facebook Pixel for tracking.

Use Apps: Get Elfsight Social Share Buttons app (free trial) for product sharing ease.

Engage: Answer comments and do a contest (e. g., “Tag a friend to win a $50 gift card!”).

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Seek Keywords: Employ Google Keyword Planner on phrases like “cheap jog gear” or “anniversary jog sales.”

Optimize Products: In titles, put keywords first (e. g., “Men’s Running Shoes – Anniversary Sale”), have short descriptions (200-300 words), and alt text on images should be relevant (e. g., “black running shoes”).

Start a Blog: Pen down two blogs containing keywords, then link them with available products. This would be my monthly writing.

Use Apps: You can get Tiny: SEO (free plan) or Smart SEO (free plan) to automatically deal with most of the keyword stuff.

Site Basics: Employ mobile friendly Shopify theme, insert testimonials and integrate Google Analytics (free).

Anniversary Plan

Now: Set up social channels, optimize five product pages, install SEO applications, and write a single blog post.

Early: Introduce sales of 10-20% less, use fifty dollars($50) for advertising, publish daily, and transmit email.

After: Review Analytics to Identify Effective Strategies, Publish Thank You Note

Tips

— Enroll in Shopify Academy (free courses).

— Don’t copy descriptions or just put ads.

— Seek assistance from Shopify’s Help Center.

congrats on the 1 year. i would start with hiring a small developer to make the site look a little sharper (or change the theme) - for example your images are all in different sizes. then i would start by running ads with very specific targeting.
