Drupal site, transition to Shopify - theme suggestions?

Hi, we have a website (https://www.anglersedgemapping.com) that was built for us using Drupal, while using Shopify for our e-commerce via the Drupal Website Connection sales channel on the Shopify side, and the Shopify API on the Drupal side. The Drupal/Shopify integration works OK, but is a bit clunky and limited in functionality vs just using shopify (product reviews don’t port over, variant images don’t port over, searching/filtering functionality not present, couple other things). We do a fair bit of e-commerce from our website, and are considering transition away from Drupal to purely Shopify - mostly prompted by the Shopify API becoming deprecated (no drupal 10 support).

In my opinion, our website doesn’t look like your typical shopify-based e-commerce site - and we like it that way. By that I mean, at a glance, selling stuff is not necessarily the focus. In my mind, maintaining that feel would be one of the hardest parts of transitioning to a Shopify theme. Can anybody suggest themes that might be suitable to maintain the current feel as much as possible?

Hi @robm_mb ,

When transitioning from Drupal to Shopify, maintaining your website’s unique look and feel is crucial. Here are some Shopify themes that could help preserve your current design:

  1. Editorial – Ideal for content-rich websites, this theme is great if you want to highlight storytelling and informative content.

  2. Dawn – A minimalist and clean layout that keeps your content prominent without making e-commerce the main focus.

  3. Narrative – Designed for visual storytelling, it includes features like hero videos and vertical slideshows.

  4. Symmetry – A flexible and customizable theme with full-width layouts, perfect for content-heavy designs.

  5. Impulse – A high-impact design with a user-friendly interface that keeps your content and store visually appealing.

Key Factors to Consider When Choosing a Theme:

Customization Flexibility – The ability to adjust colors, fonts, and layouts to match your brand identity.
Content Integration – Support for blogs, galleries, and informational sections to maintain a strong content focus.
Performance – Fast loading speeds and mobile responsiveness for a smooth user experience.
