I’ve recently had an issue where a customer has logged in to their account and then changed their email address during checkout. Although displayed on the screen it not was not obvious to them that what they were really doing was logging out and creating a brand new account:
They’ve just contacted me after me sending a mailshot to both email addresses. As this is a subscription account I’ve had to disable their old account. And of course they cant see their old order history - going back 5 years. This is clearly a poor customer experience for them and for me.
What is desperately needed is:
- an ability for customers to change their email address on the account page and checkout.
- an ability to merge duplicate accounts
