Duplicate market customization

Topic summary

Problem: A merchant built their storefront customizations in a non-default (active) market, but an app only allows editing the default market. They want to duplicate or migrate all market-specific frontend customizations to the default market and can’t find the default market in Markets settings.

Key points and guidance:

  • Shopify Markets has a single primary (default) market tied to the store’s location; only one primary market is allowed.
  • Documentation was shared on managing and deactivating markets, but it doesn’t address duplicating customizations from one market to another.
  • For third-party apps, the recommendation is to contact the app developer for market setup guidance; for Shopify-specific configurations, contact Shopify Support via the Help Center for account-level assistance.

Status and outcomes:

  • No confirmed method or steps provided to duplicate/migrate market customizations to the default market.
  • The original poster reiterated the need to migrate frontend settings; another participant asked if a solution was found.
  • Discussion remains unresolved. Action items: consult Managing markets docs, contact Shopify Support, and reach out to the app’s developer for potential workarounds.

Hi there,

I have “default” market, that I do not know how to remove, and a second market where I built the entire store (customization, custom code etc). For example now, I have one app, that cannot be switched between markets and allow me to “edit” only default market - which I do not use.

Is there a way to duplicate entire (second) market to default, so I do not have to switch when customizing and also be allowed to use app on free version because I can only edit “default” market?

In markets, I do not see such “default” market, only that secondary.

Thank you a lot

Hi @Straad !

Are we talking the “markets” section under admin, if so, you can only have one primary market and that should be the same as your store location. If this is under an application, I highly suggest that you reach out to the app developer if it is a third-party application, as they can further guide you on how to properly set up the markets under their app and if it is possible to achieve the duplicate market customization. Otherwise, contact Shopify support team.

Hey, @Straad .

Thank you for reaching out and posting this question!

If you’re using Shopify Markets, then the primary market would be based on your store’s location as indicated by @SealSubs-Roan . If you need to deactivate a market, then we’ve got a guide on Managing markets that can assist you. However, if you need further assistance, then we’d recommend contacting our live support as we’re unable to provide account-specific support via the Shopify Community. Simply visit the Shopify Help Center and login to your account to create a support request.

That being said, if you’re using a third-party app, then we’d recommend getting help with apps from the developers. Simply reach out to them using the contact information found at the bottom of their app’s page, or see if they have a contact option within the app.

If you have any other questions on this topic, then don’t hesitate to let us know!

Hey, @Elias .

Thank you for reply, understand. But I built entire store not on default market but on 1 active market. The question is, how to migrate settings of this market customization (frontend) to “default” market.

Thank you in advance.

Hi, did you find a solution for this?
Thanks in advance!
