Bing is stating that I have too many duplicate titles but is counting pages 1, 2, 3 under every collection. Is this a theme issue or is there a way to fix this? Please see picture attached below.
Hi Hanna,
This isn’t exactly a theme issue — it’s a normal behavior in Shopify.
By default, Shopify uses the same <title> for all paginated collection URLs (?page=2, ?page=3, etc.), so Bing detects them as duplicates.
To fix this, we can do one of the following:
-
Add dynamic titles for paginated pages
Example: “Baby Girl All – Page 2”, “Baby Girl All – Page 3”, etc. -
Add proper canonical tags
This tells Bing that page 1 is the main URL, and prevents duplicate-title issues. -
Noindex the paginated URLs
This is the cleanest SEO approach and avoids duplicate content entirely.
Let me know which option you prefer and I’ll take care of it.

Hey pal @Hannahrose !
Hi there! This is a common issue. Bing flags these as duplicates because pages 1, 2, and 3 share the exact same meta title. You need to append the page number to the browser title.
-
Go to
Online Store > Themes > Edit Code. -
Open
theme.liquid. -
Find the tag.
-
Paste this snippet inside the tag, right before :
{% if current_page > 1 %} - Page {{ current_page }}{% endif %}
Result: Titles will now read “Collection Name - Page 2”, making them unique.
Hope this helps!
3 easy solutions
Pagination to infinite scroll to get rid of pages.
Condense collections into subcollecollection pages by creating new templates. No sense in going page 2, page 3 looking for men’s socks when I could just click on mens collection.
Canonical tags.
