I’m working with a jeweler who wants to move their business fully onto Shopify and Shopify POS. Their challenge is that all their products are composed of raw materials and labor, for example:
X grams of gold
X grams of silver
X carats of diamonds
X labor hours
They would like a solution where they can input the current price per gram (or carat/hour), and then have all product prices automatically update across the entire store with just one click.
In other words:
If the price of gold changes, they just update the gold price once, and all products using gold should automatically update their final retail price.
The same applies to silver, diamonds, or labor rates.
This would allow them to switch to Shopify POS without manual price changes for hundreds of products.
The site is milas.dk, and we’re open to paying for a custom app or solution if someone can build this functionality.
Has anyone solved something similar, or would anyone here be interested in building this?
I’d be thinking about setting up a kind of spreadsheet to calculate prices based on material price and formulas for each product and then upload CSV to update prices in Shopify.
No apps needed, but you can definitely use Matrixify to simplify updates.

This functionality is possible on your webshop using the Options Price Calculator app. For the POS, I’m not aware of a specific app that offers the same feature. However, we could develop a custom solution for you if you’d like this capability on the POS as well.
