Editing and deleting Facebook Domain Verification tag when it isn't stored in the theme file

We have recently had issues with Facebook Marketing (or Meta now) where we have not been able to run adds as the domain verification has failed. They have said we have 2 domain verification tags in our header which is true, however I am not able to remove or edit them.

They are currently stored in the header under

which I cannot locate at all. I have tried our GTM, additional scripts section and of course the main them file but there is no mention of facebook tags anywhere! If anyone has come accross this and could point me in the right direction I will be eternally greatful!

Our store is edandsarna.com, the Facebook page and website was set up years ago and we have only just started having errors with FB ads etc.

This is a sceen shot of dev tools:

Hi @AJWATSON91

Usually, these code snippets are available in theme.liquid file. have you checked that file as well?

Hello @AJWATSON91 ,

Gina here from flareAI - your Fully Automated Free Sales Machine. Hope you are doing good! I am happy to share some suggestions for your query. And I truly hope it will be useful for you.

Did you check the theme.liquid file? By default, theme.liquid is the file that contains tag with the meta tags.

If not, check whether you are using any other custom file for the section content.

It is an amazing strategy for gaining visibility for your brand and ultimately increasing sales without having to rely so heavily on doling out money for a large marketing budget. You will get more organic sales when your products are found on free sales channels like Google Search and you will start getting order conversions for virtually zero cost. flareAI is a bot, so unlike a traditional stuff you don’t need to do a thing. Bot is different, it does stuff for you saving you time & expense. flareAI works every day for you, tapping into Google Search and 20+ of world’s best & biggest free sales channels.

I hope that the above list’s tips will help you solve your query

Hi Salil,

I have checked the theme.liquid file and there isn’t anything there! At the moment it is pulling in the information from {{conent_for_header}} and we can’t find where that is!

{{content_for_header}} is something that one should not edit according to Shopify.

If you can, uninstall the Facebook channel and remove any other apps which might have placed a code for Facebook. Check the site and confirm if the meta tag is still there.

Worst case, I can send a code snippet to remove the meta tag from {{content_for_header}} although it is highly not recommended!

Hello! I have the same issue right now. Where you able to fix it?

I did, it was stored in the Facebook & Insta Sales Channel. So even if you have reconnected to the new one they store the Pixel info there. Delete the app completely and then reinstall. The old tag should disappear and you will be able to connect to your new one so you can verify that pixel.

Your catalogue and everything will resync so it shouldn’t affect anything.
