I just recently switched from Wix to Shopify for some of the backend features but overall I am really struggling with actually building the website with shopify. Everything is so cumbersome and confusing, I cannot figure out templates vs pages, every time I try and edit a page I change the entire template and every page that was using that template winds up being the exact same so do you have to make an entire template for every page? That is so many extra steps, as far as I can tell the only thing you can edit in the pages tab is the title and the description of the page. Why can you not just edit a single page in the website builder? Unless I am missing something. Additionally I have to download a whole new app that I usually have to pay for to just add basic features like adding customizations and certain options to products and there are so many apps for each problem or add on I waste so much time downloading and testing them and none of them are upfront with the cost. Please help, if anyone has any good recommendations for apps or any tips for editing the website that would be so helpful!
I can help you understand the comparison between Wix and the Shopify CMS. In Shopify, there are some paid third-party page builders that can be used to create websites. You can utilize these, or if you’d prefer to create a custom solution, Shopify provides an official website with comprehensive documentation that is easy to understand.
Essentially, in Shopify, we create templates for all pages and assign them to specific pages. We design these pages using standard HTML and then create a schema to define all the customization options. Using some Liquid code, we integrate these options into the HTML, making it easy to edit and customize the page.
