Maybe the ways I usually use are Product Bundling & Post-Purchase Upsell, offer a discount when customers buy related items together (e.g., “Get 10% off when you buy a matching accessory”). I use Bundler and OneClickUpsell to help me do both

Great question! I’ve implemented upselling strategies for a few Shopify brands, and here’s what actually moved the needle:
- In-Cart Upsells Based on Purchase Behavior: For another store, we tested adding complementary products inside the cart — not pop-ups — and it boosted conversions by 15%. Keeping it subtle made a huge difference.
- Tiered Discounts with Urgency: We also tried “spend $X, get Y% off” offers. The trick was mentioning it early (on the product page), not at checkout. It made customers build their carts more intentionally.
- Post-Purchase Upsells on the Thank-You Page: One brand saw a 22% increase in average order value (AOV) by offering small add-ons right after checkout. Since the purchase was already complete, it felt more like a suggestion than a push.
The key was never to treat upselling as a sales tactic, it was always about offering something that genuinely improved the order.

One of the most effective and popular Upselling strategies among our merchants is to display them as add-on. You can see an example in the picture, the add-on can also be displayed after the add to cart button is pressed as a Pop-Up.
