I am wondering how to automatically send a second “order confirmation” email as the manual payment has been approved?
Currently, an order confirmation email is sent to the customer (only) as the customer completes the order but is not notified when the manual payment has been approved.
You can add a recipient for new order notifications :
From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Notifications.
In the Staff order notifications section, click Add recipient.
From the first drop-down menu, select the email address for the notification from the following options:
Select Email address, and then enter a new email address that you want to send the order notification to.
Select a staff to send notifications to their email.
If you want to create notifications for orders from a particular POS location or from the web, then select a location from the list. You can select All to create notifications for all orders. To add notifications for more than one specific location, you need to create them as separate order notifications.
Click Add an order notification.
After you’ve set up a new order notification for an email address, you can test it by clicking Send test notification.
Rather than emailing the staff when an order has been placed I am looking to send a second “order confirmation”/“payment approved” email to the customer so they know that their payment has been approved (manually).
Currently they receive an email when they have placed an order, but not when their payment has been approved thus leaving them uncertain if their payment was correctly received by us.
At this time, this is not a native feature within the admin. I understand the importance of implementing this feature, so I’ve gone ahead to share your feedback with our product development team.

You can use third-party apps from the Shopify App Store to automatically send a second “order confirmation” email when a manual payment has been approved in your Shopify store.
it’s really a bit ridiculous that shopify doesn’t support some simple functions. every other shop system is further ahead. i really have to say that the only thing shopify does for you is the hosting.
So we figured out a way to do it for us. Since every payment we obtain, we manually check and then manually confirm the payment in the system, we have this flow going:
Our app has the ability to send staff and customer email notifications after approving/declining an order. You can also redirect customers to your storefront by customizing order approval email.
