I’m setting up my new store hoosierdaddyshop.com. My domain is hosted at Hostinger. Everything is ready to go except authenticating my hoosierdaddyshop email. I’ve spent several hours with Shopify support and also Hostinger support. I’ve changed all of the DNS setting per instruction and screenshotted and shared everything both ways. Every time we have another session, the email starts ‘propagating’ again, and either goes on for days, or fails. Frankly, this isn’t an area that I know much about, and I can’t continue to chat endlessly with different support people. Should I hire somebody from Shopify Experts to resolve this? Just looking for opinions and any suggestions you might have.
It is not obvious what exactly is your problem and at what step you are stuck.
Sharing more step-by-step info about what you’ve done would be helpful.
I’m sorry. I’m setting up my store in Shopify. I want to use my email steve@hoosierdaddyshop.com as the default email for the store. Hoosierdaddyshop.com is hosted at Hostinger. I can’t get Shopify to authenticate the email. At Shopify supports instruction, I have added DNS records on Hostinger.
@cowpuncher007 it’s very normal things, as you mention, already connected with both support team but still have issues, they are right.. Problem is configuration of DNS record ( may be is typo error ), you have to once check and follow the process..
If still have issues plese let me know and share the issues screenshot.. then I give you best possible advice.
So you’ve added required records to your DNS configuration.
It is possible that propagating this information may take time (days) because it’s a relayed system and DNS info can be cached at every server.
You can check validity / propagation by using tools like https://dnschecker.org/spf-record-validation.php and similar.
That would be the first step. When you’re certain that your DNS data is proper and visible, you may re-connect with Shopify support.
I ran the dnschecker and it came up all smiling green faces
Then wait for a day more and contact shopify support with all this data.
Something could be stuck on the Shopify side, like sometimes it happened with HTTPS certificates – support was able to fix them.
Thank you. I’ll post what they say.
There is something wrong with your DNS records fix them first before anything else. I cannot see the CNAME record for Shopify in DNS Checker. You should check this again.
I see CNAME www shops.myshopify.com and CNAME account shops.myshopify.com. |
Should there be another one?
Hey @cowpuncher007 This looks like an email authentication issue, not just a Shopify domain issue.
The CNAME for Shopify (www → shops.myshopify.com) is only for connecting your website, it doesn’t affect email authentication.
For your email (steve@hoosierdaddyshop.com), Shopify is likely trying to verify SPF/DKIM records. These are TXT or CNAME records provided by your email host (Hostinger or any third-party email service).
Since you mentioned DNS checker shows everything green, it’s possible:
-
The records exist but are not correct
-
Or multiple/conflicting records are present
-
Or the email provider setup doesn’t match the DNS configuration
I’d recommend checking:
-
Your SPF record (should only have one, properly formatted)
-
Your DKIM records (usually provided by your email provider)
-
Your MX records (to confirm where email is hosted)
If these don’t match your email provider exactly, authentication will keep failing even if DNS shows as propagated.
They are in the screenshot but dns checker is not displaying any name records so there is something wrong.
CNAME records automatically handles the SPF, MX and DKIM records are good already.
