Topic summary
A user is experiencing an error when attempting to set up email forwarding in Shopify. The attached screenshot shows an error message preventing them from entering forwarding details.
Troubleshooting attempts:
- Initial suggestion to follow steps from a previous community post did not resolve the issue
- User confirms they understand the process but cannot input any information due to the error
Potential causes identified:
- Domain verification issue - The domain may not be verified in Shopify Admin (Settings > Domains)
- Third-party domain connection - If purchased through providers like GoDaddy or Namecheap, DNS settings may not be properly configured to match Shopify’s requirements
The issue remains unresolved, with the most recent response requesting confirmation that these verification steps have been checked before further investigation.
Hello there @hrid1511 Try out all the steps in the highlighted reply in this previous community post here https://community.shopify.com/post/1671744
Hopefully this should be enough to sort out the issue.
Nope it’s not working, I know the process but it’s not even letting me enter any details and giving me a error as shown in my attached screenshot
Hi @hrid1511
Based on the screenshot, here are the most likely reasons why this might be happening:
-
Domain Not Verified on Shopify:
- If your domain is not yet verified in your Shopify admin, the email forwarding feature cannot be activated.
- To resolve this, please go to Shopify Admin > Settings > Domains and confirm that your domain is connected and verified.
-
Third-Party Domain:
- If your domain was purchased through a third-party provider like GoDaddy or Namecheap and hasn’t been properly connected to Shopify, email forwarding may not work.
- Make sure your domain is fully connected by reviewing the DNS settings in your domain provider’s dashboard and ensuring they match Shopify’s requirements.
If you’ve already checked these, let us know so we can further investigate ![]()
