Email Spam or Legit re Copyright

We received an email from:

Name: Bradford Tyas
Email: justice@ci.lynnwood.wa.us

Phone Number: 69 381 15 67

Saying that he is the legal representative of www.foodandwine.com and we’ve misused their trademark on our website for commercial benefit while that we do not sell and food or wine related products.

Does anyone receive anything like this too? Is it legit?

Thanks for any feedback.

I have as well.

I do use a wine glass graphic (which is the only connection I could possibly see), but I trademark check everything I use and any graphics come from a commercial source so I do not have these issues.

They did not specify what they were speaking of, only that I remove their missued trademark in 7 days. (Well if they don’t tell me what, then how do I know what to remove).

Also asked for my registered company address which is easily located if they actually looked for it. My person’s name is Deborah Hungerford and the phone number is (11) 4012-4405. E-mail sheriff@phelpso.org

I would like to see if anyone else has had this issue.

I actually called Food and Wine CS and they think it is legit, although they could not provide me any phone number to speak to this legal team and ended up hanging up on me when I asked questions as to why there was no actual contact info.

I recieved same type of email few days back. I have a feeling that it might be a scam. So check all the names mentioned Like the email address. It belongs to a website that seem like govt website but ends with .org and not .gov Funny thing. The email address belongs to website of USA while the trademark that they say I misused is Uk website. I don’t know if it is legit or a scam. I have replied to it and said I am willing to resort to the matter but I haven’t found anything that could possibly be your trademark on my store. If they reply telling me what is it and where they found it being misused I sure will take it down. But if not. Then my friend it can very well be a scam and I just screwed my store and my email that I replied from
let’s hope for the best

Agreed.

Thank you.

My e-mail in response to them began to return as undeliverable.

Hi there! I just received a similar email from someone claiming to be a legal representative from foodandwine.com, but I can’t tell if it’s legit either. Do you have any updates on this from your experience? I’m contemplating if I should reply. Thank you so much for your help!

Same here. No information on what the misused trademark was - also claimed to have previously contacted me but nothing was received. The email submitted was courtney’s but the signed name was Derek (both legit reps of the PR agency for food and wine). I emailed them directly from my personal email so we will see.

Did you get an reply from them? I just got a comment on my website which has nothing to do with food or wine

All my content is produced by myself

I just wrote a mail to 3 mail adresses but there is no real contact mail or anything like that

It is either a scam or they want to send this message to a thousand of sites and want to sue some random people

Na mate there is no reply from them. I looked into it further and found many many people with same problem and even found an article explaining how they scam people with this. So I would say don’t worry it probably is a scam. As every one is getting this type of email from same name companies and but different addresses and different email addresses. I got that email about 3-4 months ago. I even replied to them. But then I only recieved more than normal promo email scams nothing else. No approach from them.
