Enable Third-Party Carrier Calculated Rates on Basic Plan with Annual Billing

I am currently on the Shopify Basic plan and have upgraded to annual billing, based on previous posts stating that this would enable third-party carrier-calculated shipping rates at checkout. However, after contacting Shopify Support, I was told that this is not possible on the Basic plan.

From what I understand, upgrading to the Shopify plan (which costs $66 more per month than Basic) still does not include this feature, unless an additional $20/month fee is paid. That means to get just this one feature, I would have to pay $86 extra per month.

Can this really be correct? Shopify has always been known for supporting small and new businesses, but with these pricing limitations, it seems increasingly difficult for startups with limited resources to afford essential features like third-party shipping rates.

I would really appreciate any clarification on this.

I think Shopify has an option to enable third-party carrier-calculated shipping rates on the Shopify plan yearly billing as a free addon. See here for more info: Shopify Help Center | Third-party carrier shipping

I agree. This is incredibly predatory of Shopify and makes it very difficult for start-ups to succeed.

The problem is that i have the Basic Plan, which used to be enough for third-party carrier shipping, but has changed. As a new business i can’t afford an extra $86 a month. And it seems kind of pointless for shopify to make this feature so expensive, and not add a cheaper alternative (like a 20$ addon on the basic plan.)
