Error 500 after first login (works after refresh)

Hi guys,

I have just signup and accepted an invite for Shopify for one of our clients and I have experienced a little bug that I would like to report to be fixed for future users.

When you receive an invitation and follow the link to signup (with Gmail) and accept the invite, I was shown the main dashboard but it then showed a 500 error. The issue is not persistent and I was able to refresh and then use the app, but being a developer myself I wanted to share this with your team so that they could find out what is broken in this flow.

I understand that you have noticed a 500 error in a signup link. I can see from your profile that you are a Shopify Partner. Can you confirm exactly how you are sending these invitation emails? Are you sending development store referral links through your Shopify Partner dashboard perhaps?

It’s interesting that clicking the link would cause the 500 error, but you were able to refresh it and it goes away. I would suggest trying some local troubleshooting steps, in order to see if this error is specific to your setup:

  • Clear your browser cache & cookies.
  • Try using a different browser, or even a different device if possible.
  • Ensure that your browser and device software versions are up to date.
  • Try using a different internet connection, which can help rule out any network or internet service provider issues.
