Error Adding Collaborator: Unable to Grant Permission

We’re trying to add a Collaborator to our store using the access code, but we keep encountering errors.

The status has remained “Pending” for several days and has not changed to “Active,” despite multiple approvals.

We have intentionally limited the Collaborator’s access to only what a developer would need, as we do not want to grant Legacy access. However, I don’t believe this is causing the issue.

Please see the screenshot below for the current status.

Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

hi @LivingSeedCo

It might be a technical issue with the Collaborator request. Here are a few things to check and try:

Ensure the Request Was Accepted Properly:

Go to Settings > Users and Permissions and check if the Collaborator request is still “Pending.”

If possible, try removing and resending the request.

Check for Shopify Support Limitations:

If the request is stuck despite approval, Shopify may need to manually reset it. You can contact Shopify Support to verify if there’s a system issue.

Try Granting Temporary Additional Permissions:

Some users have found that granting broader permissions temporarily (like enabling extra access) can push the status to “Active.” You can then adjust access later.

Use a Different Browser or Clear Cache:

Sometimes, Shopify’s admin panel may cache old data. Try logging in via incognito mode or a different browser.

If the issue persists, reaching out to Shopify Support might be the best next step.
