I am a Chinese seller with a Shopify store, and I ship products from China to the USA. The currency in my Shopify admin is set to USD, but I am encountering the error “COUNTRY DOES NOT MAP TO CURRENCY” in Pinterest’s Verified Merchant Program (VMP) catalog.
Details:
My Shopify store is based in China, but I am targeting U.S. customers and shipping from China.
The currency in Shopify is set to USD.
I am trying to resolve the “COUNTRY DOES NOT MAP TO CURRENCY” error when syncing my Shopify catalog with Pinterest.
Could someone please advise on how to resolve this issue and ensure that my Pinterest catalog is properly mapped to the USD currency, even though my Shopify store is based in China?
This error occurs because Pinterest expects your feed’s currency to match your store’s physical business location. Since your store is located in China but you are selling in USD, the system flags this as a mismatch.
The native Pinterest app often locks the feed country to your business address, which prevents you from simply changing a setting to resolve it.
You are going to need to use a third-party feed app like Flexify or Multiple Google Shopping Feeds instead of the native channel. Inside the app’s settings, manually set the Target Country to “United States.” This forces the feed metadata to indicate that the data is intended for the US market, which aligns with your USD currency.
