Not sure what to do! It says I have to many DNS records but when I go to domain.com where my domain is I’m not sure which a records to delete
Hi, @Aziel .
Welcome to the Shopify Community. Thanks for sharing your question.
To gather further context, could you share domain URL here? I’d like to check your DNS settings and help you point it to Shopify’s records.
When connecting a third-party domain to Shopify, you’ll want to follow these steps:
- Log into your third-party domain provider account. (This where you purchased your domain from and where you can edit your DNS settings.)
- Once logged in, navigate to your DNS settings area/domain management area.
Change the following records to point to Shopify:
- Point the A Record to Shopify’s IP address: 23.227.38.65
- Delete any other A Records on the domain if they are present.
- Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com. (Be sure to include the period at the end of the domain.)
Please let us know if the above steps have helped. For better visibility, we’ve also shared the steps in our Connect your third-party domain to Shopify manually resource.
I look forward to your response.
Hello, Victoria!
Wanted to add to the problem that Aziel was having, I have the same problem, but in my case, I have done everything that you have said the small problem is that in my domain DNS settings there are two more A records that i cant delete.

Hi there, @Roman08 .
Thanks for joining the thread!
If you have additional A Records present in your domain’s DNS settings, these would need to be deleted from your third-party domain provider account. You’ll need to head to your third-party provider account, log in and navigate to your DNS management area to remove them.
For better visibility, we have included steps in our Connect Your Third Party Domain to Shopify Manually resource. If you need help with removing the A Record, I encourage you to get in touch with your domain’s support team. Once you have removed your A Record, feel free to share your domain here, so we can ensure your DNS settings are set up to correctly point to Shopify’s records.
Same here - there is no way to edit or delete the A record that came with the domain. Very frustrating.
Hi, @NSBateman .
Welcome to the Shopify Community, and thanks for being part of the thread.
Could you share where you purchased your domain from? Also, have you tried contacting your third-party domain provider to assist you with updating your DNS records?
GoDaddy.
I have 2 A records and 2 Cnames and think it’s all a mess, now.
I’ll contact them tomorrow if it doesn’t clear.
Thanks, Victoria
Hello
I have same issues 3rd party domain from Godaddy It has 2 A records and 2 CNAME record not deleting what should i do with it?
Hi, @Saikhanjargal09 .
Thanks for joining the thread!
GoDaddy has a Help Center resource you can follow to delete records from your DNS settings.
When following this resource, you’ll want to ensure you’re only removing the second A record and second CNAME record. You can have only one A record and one www CNAME record associated with your domain.
If your domain already has an A record or www CNAME record, then you need to change these records to point to Shopify. You can have multiple CNAME records associated with your domain, but each one must have a unique name, such as www or shop.
If you need help with updating your DNS records, I recommend contacting GoDaddy Support as they will have visibility into your account.
Hi Victoria,
I got the same notification too saying that I have too many A records. But when I recheck my A record there is only 1 and that is related to the Shopify. It should be no problem and I don’t know why did I received the notification and warning. I deleted and input the same A record all over again but the warning still exist and I cannot enter my shop page. Please help.
FYI> I removed the SHOPIFY TEMPLATE which had locked in an A record with a different address. Once that was removed I could add in the correct A record address as the system requested. Crazy.
Hi, @ahbin001 .
Welcome to the Shopify Community.
Could you advise where you purchased your domain, and when did you connect your domain to Shopify? It might take up to 48 hours for your domain to be verified. Have you already had a chance to connect with your third-party domain provider?
