inventory page, not product page
Topic summary
This AMA focused on Shopify inventory management challenges ahead of Black Friday/Cyber Monday (BFCM). The Shopify Product and Marketing team answered merchant questions during a live two-hour text session.
Most Pressing Issue:
Multiple merchants raised the 90-day inventory adjustment history limit as a critical problem. Users emphasized this restriction prevents proper historical tracking, auditing, and analysisâparticularly problematic for established businesses needing long-term data. The team acknowledged receiving this feedback but provided no timeline for extending the limit.
Key Topics Discussed:
- Tracking external payments: For Venmo/PayPal/Zelle transactions, solutions include manual order entry, third-party apps, or custom integrations
- Purchase order features: Requests for auto-populating POs at minimum thresholds and printing barcode labels directly from PO pages
- Bundle/kit inventory: Multiple merchants asked about tracking component inventory when selling product bundles (no native solution provided)
- Incoming inventory visibility: Users want to track ordered stock before it arrives
- Multi-location inventory views: Request for consolidated dashboard showing all locations simultaneously
- Preorder management: Guidance provided on using preorder apps to separate regular and advance orders
Reporting Gaps:
Merchants requested ABC analysis beyond 28 days, product-level (vs. variant-level) views, and zero-movement reports.
The session revealed significant gaps between merchant needs and current platform capabilities, particularly around historical data access and advanced inventory features.
The product pageâs search bar has more and different things you can filter out.
category, sales channel, marketing, collection, publishing error, gift card
just the main thing of canât filter out collection on the inventory page is important.
Also, on the product page, filter by tag the page will populate the closest tag that matches what youâre typing but the inventory page doesnât populate so you have to guess or copy the same format the tag is.
man i would want this but⌠no reviews, $20USD/month for unlimited product history seems pretty steep for the limited function. Is this your app or you just found it?
I wish they can include more info in that report. Restock Date and restock amount⌠they have that info in the product page so not sure why they canât include it into the sku/variant report.
oh yea, donât know why they used 2 different search bar for product vs inventory page. I have issues with that too, canât even filter out collections in inventory and the tag donât suggest while you type.
Hi Mariaacle,
Again you have used the same sentence twice now - that Stocky is an âat the momentâ app. Can you please confirm that Shopify is not removing Stocky - it is the best and most stable part of the entire system. Without Stocky our inventory would be unmanageable. It worries me greatly to see you imply that it may not be the long term solution. Can you confirm that Stocky will stay? Your choice of working really concerns us. Thank you for your clarification. (Screen shot of this post this time, as I see the first one seems to be gone now).
@bhh @Iniquity We just shipped a bug fix for that!
Try it again and let me know if it works.
@bhh And just to clarify, when you mentioned âpart numberâ, that was the SKU you were referring to, right?
still doesntâ have filter by collection or tag filter doesnât populate closest match
Can we get an update on the autocorrect issue on the POS search? Entering customer names is a task we do for every single transaction. Thanks!

Looks like the autocorrect has been fixed (thanks!). Now if we could get it set back to no more pop up (itâs even tinier than all the other tiny things on the screen) and stop setting it to have the cursor automatically in the âcreate new clientâ spot. Itâs so many extra clicks and frustrating!
