Export Draft Orders to PDF with Customizable Templates and Email Attachment Option

Hi Shopify Team and Fellow Merchants,

I’d like to request a feature that allows merchants to export draft orders to PDF, with the ability to customize the PDF template using HTML (similar to receipt templates). Additionally, when sending draft orders via email, there should be an option to attach the PDF to the email. This feature would be a game-changer for high-ticket stores and businesses that require quoting before purchase.

Use Case:

Many merchants, especially those selling high-ticket items or offering custom quotes, rely on draft orders to provide customers with detailed pricing before purchase. However:

  • There’s currently no built-in way to export draft orders to PDF.
  • Merchants often need to use third-party apps to generate quotes, which adds unnecessary complexity and costs.
  • Customers prefer receiving professional, branded PDFs for quotes, especially for high-value purchases.

**Proposed Solution:**1. Export Draft Orders to PDF:

  • Add a built-in option to export draft orders as PDFs directly from the Shopify admin.
  • Include all relevant details (e.g., customer information, product details, pricing, taxes, and terms) .

  1. Customizable PDF Templates:

    • Allow merchants to design the PDF template using HTML, similar to how receipt templates are customized.
    • Enable branding options (e.g., logo, colors, and custom fields) to create professional-looking quotes.

  2. Attach PDF to Email:

    • Add a checkbox in the draft order email interface to attach the PDF to the email.
    • This ensures customers receive a professional, downloadable quote directly in their inbox.

Business Impact:

This feature would:

  • Streamline Operations: Eliminate the need for third-party apps, reducing costs and simplifying workflows.
  • Enhance Customer Experience: Provide customers with professional, branded PDFs for quotes, which is especially important for high-ticket purchases.

  • Universal Appeal: While high-ticket stores would benefit the most, this feature is useful for any merchant who uses draft orders, making it a widely applicable enhancement.
