My bounce rate on my site averages around 80% and I am struggling to figure out why. I’ve added call to actions and other things on my home page but nothing seems to be working. What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated. my site is https://brycetechgolf.com
Hi @brycetech
I think you can consider check and improve these things:
- Optimize images and minimize scripts to reduce loading times, as slow sites can increase bounce rates.
- Ensure the site is responsive and user-friendly on mobile devices, as a significant portion of traffic may come from mobile users.
- Use analytics to identify where your traffic is coming from and tailor content to match their interests and expectations.
- Incorporate engaging content, such as videos demonstrating the ProtoClip™ in action, to retain visitor interest (but I see you already have it)
Hi @brycetech ,
I am from Mageplaza - Shopify solution expert.
I would be happy to review your website and provide feedback on the performance. Here are some suggestions to improve the performance of your website and increase sales:
- Improve promotional banner and section on Homepage
You should add seasonal banners for current promotions to catch the attention of customers.
Additionally, featuring sections like “special offer” on the homepage, make discount labels and pricing information more noticeable, can drive attention to popular and discounted products, encouraging visitors to engage more with your site. Here is a reference:
A high cart abandonment rate can be discouraging, especially after investing time and resources into driving traffic to your store. This suggests that many potential buyers are leaving without completing their purchases, leading to lower conversion rates.
To tackle this issue, consider re-engaging these shoppers by:
- Sending Email Reminders: Notify customers about their abandoned items to encourage them to return.
- Offering Incentives: Provide discounts or free shipping to motivate them to complete their purchase.

I hope these tips prove useful! Wishing you success!
Hi, @brycetech
An 80% bounce rate usually means visitors either aren’t immediately understanding the value of the site or something in the experience is causing them to leave before exploring further.I think the issue is probably more about clarity, trust, and page experience rather than just adding more CTAs.
A few things I’d focus on:
- Improve page speed and mobile experience
A lot of bounce issues come from mobile UX. Slow-loading images, heavy sections, or layout shifts can make users leave before interacting with the site.
Compress the homepage images, reduce unnecessary apps/scripts, and avoid loading too many animations above the fold.
2.Reduce homepage friction
Sometimes too many sections, animations, or competing CTAs can overwhelm visitors instead of guiding them. A cleaner path from homepage → product → purchase usually performs better.
3.Build trust earlier
For golf products, people usually want reassurance quickly - reviews, product demonstrations, customer results, shipping/returns, etc. If those are too far down the page, visitors may leave before building enough trust.
- Check traffic quality too
If a large percentage of traffic is coming from broad ads or untargeted sources, bounce rate can naturally be higher because the landing experience may not fully match visitor expectations.Matching ad messaging more closely with the landing page usually helps.
I’d also recommend running heatmaps/session recordings because they usually reveal the real problem very quickly - whether users stop scrolling, hesitate, or leave before the site fully loads.
If you find the store is loading slowly, tools like Website Speedy can help compress images and reduce loading friction - especially useful for stores with heavy image or video sections.
