Facebook/Meta Product Rejections

Hello, Community…

I’ve probably spent more time trying to set up Facebook and Instagram than they can be worth. The most recent wall I’ve hit is a rejection of products. Of my 221 products, 176 have been rejected and labeled “Policy: Medical and Healthcare Products” and “Listing may not promote medical and healthcare products or services, including medical devices or smoking cessation products containing nicotine.”

My products are all reading glasses and sunglasses, lesser priced reading glasses are readily available in drug stores, Walmart, Amazon, and other merchants. And they’re not kept behind the Rx counter. I don’t sell Medical or Healthcare Products!

A screen capture of a portion of my rejections can be found on the attached pptx file. The website’s URL is: visacuity.myshopify.com/

Nearly all people over 45 need reading glasses because we have trouble seeing close (next time you’re in a restaurant, look at people over 45 – most are either squinting or wearing reading glasses to see the menu.)

After studying my product descriptions, I don’t detect anything or anything in common in them that would lead a reasonable adult to establish my products as “medical!”

I’ve attempted to message the “rejection appeal” people (I appealed the rejections with the information above, holding back my tone of exasperation). I haven’t received answers. Does anybody have a suggestion for a next step? Or should I drop it and stop wasting my time?

Thanks in advance for your help and insight.

Best,
Mark

Ryan,

Thanks for the offer!

I’d hate to impose on you, though. I’d be glad to simply receive
instructions and follow them.

Have you encountered this problem before?

Best,
Mark

Hello @Driven_Crazy ,

Greetings! I am Gina from the flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $6Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot.

I understand the frustration you’re experiencing with the rejections of your products on Facebook and Instagram for being labeled as “Medical and Healthcare Products.” Despite your products being reading glasses and sunglasses, which are commonly available in drug stores and other retailers, they have been flagged incorrectly. It’s evident that your intention is not to sell medical or healthcare products, as these items cater to a broad demographic, including individuals over 45 who require reading glasses due to difficulty in seeing close objects.

To address this issue, it’s important to review the policies of Facebook and Instagram regarding medical and healthcare products. Familiarize yourself with the specific guidelines and restrictions they have in place. Additionally, carefully examine your product descriptions to identify any terms or phrases that may be triggering the algorithm to flag them as medical. Modify or remove any language that could be interpreted as medical in nature and emphasize the fashion and style aspects of your reading glasses and sunglasses.

Continuing to appeal the rejections is a crucial step. Reach out to the support or appeals team of the platforms and provide a concise and polite explanation that your products do not fall under the medical or healthcare category. Highlight the distinction between reading glasses as a fashion accessory and medical devices, and provide examples from other reputable retailers that offer similar products without restrictions.

In addition to appealing, consider seeking assistance from Shopify’s customer support as they may have insights or recommendations based on their experience with the platforms. If the issue persists, it may be worthwhile to explore alternative marketing channels, such as optimizing your Shopify store for organic search traffic, utilizing email marketing, or trying out other social media platforms with less stringent policies.

Lastly, it’s important to reassess your overall strategy and determine whether the time and resources invested in Facebook and Instagram are justified compared to potential returns. While policies and algorithms can sometimes be imperfect, it’s essential to remain persistent, patient, and open to exploring alternative solutions.

Hope this is helpful

Gina

Thanks so much, Gina,

I’m grateful for your guidance!

Best,
