I’ve received some what I think are suspicious messages on my chat box this evening. I’ve never had any orders from anyone by this name, and this order number doesn’t correlate with any order numbers either.
It is always good to reach out for input from other merchants if you feel like something is not right. In this situation, it could be an honest mistake by this customer or it could potentially be someone trying to convince you they had an order so that they can get something free from your store.
In this situation I would direct the customer to their bank to investigate any charges on their credit card and to reassure the customer that no order was placed on your store. Past that, in case this is a fraudulent attempt, I would say not to engage with the customer any longer.
