Core issue: A Shopify store remained linked to a disabled Facebook account’s Commerce Manager, blocking connection to a new Business account with the error “This Shopify store already has a catalog.”
OP resolution: Within Shopify’s Facebook & Instagram sales channel > Settings, disconnecting the catalog allowed progress (still syncing afterward). Screenshots showed the disabled status and relevant settings.
Ongoing problem (second user): After disconnecting and reconnecting, Instagram still reports “this product isn’t using the domain I selected,” and the domain keeps reattaching to the old Facebook account. Multiple calls to Facebook support did not help.
Guidance provided: Use “Deactivate Shop” in the Facebook Channel Settings, then from Overview > Start Setup, select the correct Business Assets (Page/IG account) to reconnect. Another screenshot highlighted where the Deactivate button appears.
Status: Partial resolution. The OP’s catalog conflict is resolved via Shopify-side disconnect. The second user’s domain/asset linkage remains unresolved after deactivation/reconnection.
Key terms: “Catalog” = the product data container in Meta Commerce Manager. “Business Assets” = Page/Instagram account/domain owned within a Meta Business (Business Manager).
My Facebook account connected with my commerce manager was disabled (see screenshot below). I already setup the Facebook & Instagram sales channel on Shopify using this account. I created a new Facebook business account to try and get back on Meta shop but now when I try to connect that account to my Shopify I get an error saying “This Shopify store already has a catalog”.
I know the answer would typically be to delete the catalog in the old FB Commerce manager account but I don’t have access to my commerce manager because the FB account is disabled. Facebook is zero help (can’t find a way to talk with anyone) and I am pretty lost on what to do from here. Any guidance would be much appreciated.
I’m almost at the point of seeing if I can create a whole new Shopify store but not sure if that’s even feasible or if that would mean losing all the data I currently have. Massive headache. If anyone has any perspective or guidance would be very appreciated.
For anyone else having this issue - I went to the Facebook & Instagram sales channel in Shopify then to settings then there was an option to disconnect the catalog from there. That seems to have worked but still syncing some info.
Did you find a solution to this yet? Because I have actually been on the phone with Facebook over 5 times right now and I can confirm they are of no help. the option to disconnect the catalog in Shopify I can’t seem to find. At least, I can disconnect, but as soon as I connect again, I get the same notification when I want to tag my products that this product isn’t using the domain I selected for my store in IG.
Starting (no, already am) to get desperate as well. Hope you have the answer!
As you may already have done, first you would need to go to your Settings in the Facebook Channel, and click on the “Deactivate Shop” button.
After you have disconnected your store you can change the Page/Instagram Account if you go to the “Overview” page and click on “Start Setup” to select the new Business Assets to connect to instead.
Hi! Thanks for thinking along. Unfortunately, I already tried that once and when I reconnect, the domain remains connect again to the other FB account.
