FB pixel not triggering View Content any more

Hi,

Since yesterday FB pixel stopped triggering View Content event properly. I am attaching screenshots from yesterday & today. I am also attaching the Events Manager screenshot.

The FB pixel helper is also not triggering view content - add to cart, page view, initiate checkout all working fine.

Can someone help?

Also experiencing this issue. View Content events stopped reporting 8pm GMT on Monday 21st September. This could be connected to the new Facebook Channel app published by Shopify. I previously had it installed but after upgrading to the new version, the View Content pixel issue started.

For anyone affected by this, you should manually install Google Tag Manager and setup the FB pixel events yourself. That will resolve the issue. Facebook will automatically deduplicate pixel events since the Facebook Channel app doesn’t seem to struggle with reporting landing page view, ATC, IC and PUR events.

Incidentally, manually testing the FB pixel through FB does register View Content events and my pixel is also still receiving View Content events from Google Shopping feeds. So the issue do seem specific to to the Facebook Channel app.

I didn’t have the Facebook channel app. Testing the pixel through the events manager also didn’t trigger ViewContent for me.

I’ve installed the Facebook Channel app - still I don’t see ViewContent triggers.

When I went to install Google Tag Manager I saw this:

"You can use Google Tag Manager with your Shopify Plus online store, as long as you:

  • Use Shopify’s integration for Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel instead of using them with Google Tag Manager" - so I’m not sure if I should install it?

Are there any other solutions?

There is a setting under Sales Channel > Online Store > Preferences where you set the Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel IDs in Shopify. However, if you are now using the Facebook Channel app you will connect to the correct pixel anyway as part of the setup process.

I did manually install Google Tag Manager on my site and also connected it through Facebook’s Data Sources directly. This did not resolve the View Content issue for me although I was still able to track View Content events in my Facebook account when testing events.

This is also not a Facebook issue apparently since I am running other Facebook campaigns where the View Content event is reporting correctly in Facebook.

It appears Shopify’s native support of the Facebook pixel is broken.

We have a client with exactly the same problem. We’ve tried with the new Facebook Channel app as well, but it doesn’t work either.

Weirdly enough it works as expected when previewing a copy of the exact same theme as the live theme.

It would be highly appreciated with an official fix for this.
