Hi,
We are a non-developer eCommerce team exploring the Horizon theme, and we’d like to understand how feasible it would be to build an almost launch-ready store using Sidekick for most configurations, while dedicating some development time to specific enhancements.
The additional features we’d need include:
-
Shop the Look section (a lifestyle image where customers can click on tagged products, which then display alongside the image for quick shopping)
-
Featured Collections section (combining a lifestyle image with a product grid)
-
Displaying store inventory on PDP (we want to show the inventory of our 5 locations when clicking on a variant)
-
Ability for sections to link to custom URLs
-
Implement a carousel on the PDP displaying other items from the same vendor that are related to the current product.
-
Show complimentary images for a product in different colours, using images stored in metafields.
Could you confirm if these are possible within Horizon with minimal custom development?
Do you have an internal development team that could help us with this, or could you recommend developers experienced with Horizon?
Thank you,
Ana
The carroussel on PDP is natively available under the “recommended products” tab. You just gotta set up search & discovery. I’m almost 100% sure sidekick can make the shop the look section also, but it I’m unsure if it can be setup to appear different for different products.
Hello @aname46
Happy to hear you’re exploring the development side of your store even without having all the expertise; that’s what our AI block generation and Sidekick are all about. Several of your questions sound like good use cases for Sidekick.
In order of complexity, I would expect the following to be possible through some iteration:
- Having sections link to custom URLs (where by custom you mean that can be selected as a setting in the Editor) should work
- Show complimentary images for a product in different colours, using images stored in metafields.
- Setting up a Featured Collections section combining a lifestyle image with a product grid should also be something that should work.
- Creating a Shop the Look section should be doable (it was actually one of the use cases that the team used while building the AI block-gen.
- Showing a carousel of same-vendor products should be technically doable
Some of the above might require more or less setup (like metafields) and more or less iterations.
However, showing a variant inventory out of different locations is not an option at the moment. That’s not an AI limitation, but a platform limitation.
A note on “minimal development”:
Whenever making changes or adding new content to your theme, make sure to make some backups to ensure you preserve functionality.
