So it seems you can only add individual users, not companies to a POS Sale.
We use the companies function both for actually b2b with an assigned catalogue, but also just for our retail customers that are businesses. They need an invoice in their business name, they need their sales for multiple employees to be under the same account. Employees may come and go from the business, but the businesses purchases should always stay together under the one customer.
It seems a bit of a gap not to be able to add them to a POS sale. Support is suggesting going off to do these as a draft order in the admin, but then we can’t scan products, take card payments etc… I was sold POS on the idea that it was all seamlessly intergrated
Hello,
You’re right this is a gap in most POS systems. POS is built for individual customers, while “company accounts” are handled in admin/B2B flows, which is why they don’t work seamlessly together. create a single customer profile per company (with tags/metafields for business name) and use that at POS so scanning + payments stay intact while keeping purchases grouped for invoicing/reporting MyCCPay login .
Hey @aimee_au ,
At the moment, Shopify POS doesn’t support attaching a Company directly to a POS sale only individual customer profiles can be selected. If your workflow relies on B2B Companies there isn’t currently a built-in way to associate the sale with a company while keeping the full POS experience.
One available workaround is to use a Draft Order although as you mentioned it doesn’t provide the same POS functionality, such as scanning products and completing the sale through the standard POS workflow. If this capability is important for your business, I’d recommend submitting it as a feature request, as native support for Companies in Shopify POS would benefit merchants serving B2B customers.
Thank You !
