Hello Shopify Team and Community,
I’d like to request a feature enhancement for Shopify’s local delivery functionality. Currently, local delivery is tied to locations and applies universally to all products available at that location. However, there’s no native way to:
- Automatically disable local delivery for out-of-stock products.
- Create shipping profiles specifically for local delivery to manage product-specific rules.
Why This Feature Matters:
- Improved Customer Experience: Customers won’t mistakenly select local delivery for products that aren’t eligible or in stock, reducing confusion and frustration at checkout.
- Operational Efficiency: Merchants can streamline their fulfillment process by ensuring local delivery is only offered for products that meet specific criteria, such as inventory availability.
- Flexibility for Merchants: Adding shipping profiles for local delivery would allow merchants to set tailored rules, such as offering local delivery for certain product categories or price ranges.
Proposed Solutions:
- Allow merchants to create shipping profiles specifically for local delivery, similar to how shipping zones and rates are managed.
- Introduce an option to automatically disable local delivery at checkout for products that are out of stock or unavailable at the local delivery location.
