Feature Request: Restrict Custom Shipping Method Entry in Shopify POS

Currently, POS staff can manually type in custom shipping method names when shipping an order to a customer. This creates issues for merchants who rely on ERP or fulfillment integrations (such as Acumatica), where unrecognized shipping methods fail to sync or cause errors downstream. There is no POS role permission available to restrict or disable this behavior. We’d like the ability to either lock shipping method selection to predefined options only, or add a POS permission that prevents staff from entering custom/freeform shipping methods.

I agree and the fact that even workarounds are limited, the closest thing is training staff and auditing orders manually, neither of which scales.

You’ll have a better shot getting this seen on community.shopify.dev where Shopify staff and the POS product team actually engage with feature requests. Post it there with the same context and reference your ERP use case, real downstream impact (sync failures, manual cleanup hours) is what moves requests up the roadmap.

Also worth submitting via the in app feedback (? icon in admin, Send feedback) since that goes directly to the product team. This forum is mostly merchants and partners and won’t surface the right people but it’s good you’re posting here too to get your suggestion be seen by people.
