With the increase in gift sending over the past few years, it would be great to allow customers to send a purchase as a gift to a recipient via email, even when they don’t have the shipping address. Ideally, when checking out, the purchaser could click a box stating that the purchase is a gift and they want to allow the recipient to claim via email, enter the recipient’s email address and skip past shipping info to billing and payment. An email would be sent and when the recipient claims their gift via email, they are directed to enter their shipping address. This would then trigger the finalization of the payment and initiate fulfillment. The recipient would not see the price, and the purchaser would not get the address info. There are some apps that do parts of this, but not all with full branding and customization. Those that do offer something partially are expensive and bulky. It would also be wonderful to have the option to choose end users if the shop owner chooses to for convenience.
