is there a way to make a featured collection into a slideshow so the customer could basicaly swipe through different products. Could we even make the slideshow self rotating so the products would change? i would like the same width and 4 products at a time, same as the featured collection i have setup on my store.

You can ‘Enable carousel’ in the settings of the section, refer:
it will help you to enable the theme carousel.
