We have noticed that featured images from some blog posts are being removed when we edit the blog content, meta description, or other fields and click save and see the error below.
”Image upload failed. Image https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0262/2157/articles/xyz.png
failed to download. - file not found. Check that file can be found at your URL.”
We do not delete or replace these images on the storefront, and this issue occurs regardless of image format (JPG, JPEG, PNG) or upload time, affecting both old and new blog posts as well as older and newer images. No image optimization apps are in use, and the problem only occurs within the Shopify admin when editing the blog, not on the front end.
We have ruled out theme conflicts as the cause and have not deleted any images ourselves. Shopify’s CDN may regenerate URLs, which can invalidate old image links, but support has not confirmed if this is the root cause. The issue occurs intermittently and it happens randomly and if we edit multiple blogs at once, it may only affect one of them, and we cannot reliably replicate the behavior, and support suggested it might be related to imported blog content. However, all our images are uploaded directly through the Shopify admin; we do not use spreadsheets or import content for blog posts.
Any insights on what is causing the issue
thank you
