I’m having an issue with FedEx carrier-calculated shipping rates in Shopify and hoping someone here has seen this before.
We’re based in Spain and have been using Shopify’s native FedEx integration (no third-party apps) to show our negotiated rates at checkout. It worked perfectly for months.
Today, Shopify emailed us saying we need to reconnect our FedEx account due to a scheduled update.
When I try to reconnect from:
Settings → Shipping and delivery → Carrier accounts → Reconnect FedEx
Shopify redirects me to FedEx. All steps validate correctly, but at the final confirmation step I always get:
“The system has experienced an unexpected problem. Please try again later.”
So the connection never completes.
Important points:
Not a credentials issue
FedEx → Shopify (labels/shipments) still works
Only Shopify → FedEx (rates at checkout) is broken
This setup worked until today
Has anyone in the EU dealt with this recently?
Did you manage to fix it without switching to third-party apps?
Labels still work via FedEx Ship Manager, but as soon as we try to reconnect FedEx inside Shopify to restore carrier-calculated rates, we get the “unexpected problem” error during Security Verification.
It really feels like an OAuth / API handshake issue on Shopify’s side rather than a credentials problem, especially since:
We generated a brand new Production Meter via the FedEx Developer Portal
FedEx confirmed the meter is active
The Rate API module has been enabled on their side
We’ve already tried:
Removing the FedEx account completely (not just reconnecting)
Clearing cache and cookies
Testing in incognito
Re-checking Web Services + negotiated rates
Re-saving shipping zones before reconnect
Still the same error.
At this point, I’m leaning toward asking Shopify to manually reset the carrier integration on the backend. From what you’re saying, that seems to be the real fix for EU stores after the recent reconnection update.
Really appreciate you sharing this — it confirms we’re probably chasing the wrong side.
