Hello Shopify Community!

I’m in the final stages of setting up my Shopify store, How to Guides, and would love your feedback on how it looks so far! The design is complete, but I haven’t uploaded the products yet as I’m still fine-tuning a few details.

Here’s what I’d love feedback on:

Overall Design: How does the store look so far? Is the layout user-friendly and visually appealing?

Color Scheme: Does the color palette feel cohesive? Any suggestions for improvement?

Navigation: Are the categories and overall flow easy to follow?

Content: Does the “About Us” page resonate with you? Is there anything you would add or change?

I’d greatly appreciate any suggestions on how I can make the shopping experience even better for my customers.

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Hello Benji

After having a look at your online store these are my remarks:

  • The yellow color (gradient) as overall store background does not feel quite nice. I would suggest a white (or may be greyish) background with touches of yellow and black in some sections, since those two colors are in your logo.

  • Same for the header section, leave it white so as to let the logo sit well on it. With the yellow background, you have that square logo image which does not quite look good.

  • Review overall page structure.

For the first section, your title is fine (imo) but you should have a banner image (right images speak better than words) with a calll to action button that can may be get the visitor to the collection page.

Provide other sections like Testimonials to showcase happy clients feedbacks (it increases the trust of new visitors) and may be (life ?) benefits of getting or reading the books you sell.

Also provide a footer section with the nav links and important links like Terms of service, Faq, social links and contact details (phone number, email). These will also increase visitors trust.

  • For the navigation, it looks good for a start, just make sure you categorize very well your different e-books, especially if you’re selling many books.

  • For the About us page, i think the info provided is good for now. Can be further improved later on. Just modify the design (background color).

Wishing you the best of luck.

Best regards

Alex

Hi @Benji1o ,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. We are MooseDesk, a comprehensive Live Chat, FAQ & Helpdesk App designed to elevate your customer support experience.

Congrats on your store! Your store looks stunning. I can tell you have put a lot of effort into building this. However, I have some comments to make the good get even better. Here are some of my recommendations for better customer experience, please kindly check.

  • Add a Favicon Image
A favicon is a small but important detail that can significantly enhance your website’s professionalism and brand recognition. It helps customers quickly identify your website among multiple tabs, increasing the likelihood of them returning.

  • Revamp the Hero Section
Your hero section is the first thing customers see when they visit your website, so it needs to make a strong impression. I recommend adding a hero banner that clearly showcases your products along with an appealing description. This should be visible without requiring any scrolling, helping customers instantly understand what you offer. Including a prominent CTA button that links to your product collection page can also encourage immediate exploration.

  • Introduce a Product Collection Section
Placing a product collection section right below the hero banner can provide customers with a quick overview of your product categories. This will make it easier for them to navigate your offerings and explore the different product lines available in your store.

  • Add an “About Us” Section
Including a brief “About Us” section on your homepage can help build a connection with your visitors by telling them more about your brand and story. Linking this to a dedicated About Us page can increase engagement and encourage customers to spend more time on your site.

  • Consider Adding a Reviews/Testimonials Section
When you have customer reviews, displaying them on your website can greatly enhance credibility. Potential buyers are more likely to trust and purchase from a store that showcases positive testimonials, which can lead to higher conversion rates.

  • Remove the Specific Product Display Section on the Homepage
The homepage should focus on giving a broad overview of your brand and product categories, rather than highlighting individual products. Consider moving specific product showcases to dedicated product pages to streamline your homepage and improve navigation.

  • Add a FAQ Page and Communication Widget
Including a FAQ page can address common customer questions and reduce inquiries, making it easier for visitors to find the information they need. Additionally, adding a communication widget (like live chat) can improve customer support, helping you provide quick assistance and enhancing the overall shopping experience.

Hello there @Benji1o welcome to the community and I’m glad you’ve taken a decision to kickstart your Shopify store soon! In terms of user design and experience, it’s pretty good to me as it has a sticky header already and was pretty easy to scroll through without any lagging of sorts.
For things, I think you should add on the homepage

  1. An About Us page, to explain a bit about the background of your store and its visions and other important stuff but make it as brief as possible

  2. If you have any customer testimonials from previous stores or maybe even from sales you’ve made in person, it would be a good idea to import them into the store as social proof

  3. It would also be a great idea to link the social media accounts of the business at the bottom of the homepage to make it easier for customers to connect with and stay updated with your store.

I hope these help you out a bit and I wish you the best of luck!

Hi @Benji1o ,

This is Kate from PageFly - Shopify Free Landing Page Builder.

I have just had a look at your store. Your store is well-organized but I would love to provide my recommendations for your store so that it may gain more sales. May it help!

1. Add your store’s favicon

Having a favicon for your store will make it unique and help customers easily recognize it. Please consider using an image/ icon for it, same as Shopify below:

2. Improve the header and add an announcement bar

  • Make the header smaller to improve UX and make room for other key content

  • Add an announcement bar with a countdown timer and make it sticky: You can consider running a promotion campaign for this sale season, you should add a countdown timer as an announcement bar for limited-time offers to create a sense of urgency and drive conversions. Also, it’s important to make it sticky even when scrolling down to keep reminding visitors about the promotion. You can take this as a reference:

    PageFlyKate_1-1731290259783.png

  • The banner is very significant in hero material. It is the first thing customers see when they visit your website. Let’s get consumers to know exactly what you’re having in 5 seconds first.

3. Details for your questions

For me, the overall layout is user-friendly and well-organized. However, if you put the different size of the product image and product title’s length, it will not as same as the demo one.

  • Color Scheme: Yes, the current color palette feels cohesive. However, the buttons are not classified by color. A primary call to action button is one of the important things for an online store’s home page. With these buttons, you will redirect customers to the page you want them to take action on. I’, not sure you want a customer (like me) to click “Explore more” or “Add to card” most.
  • Navigation: The flow is easy to follow and I can reach out to the header.
  • Content: Does the “About Us” page resonate with you? Is there anything you would add or change? => I did not focus too much on this page, you can improve it into the home page. For example:
    • A brand story helps customers understand more about your business and also helps your store look more professional.
    • Moreover, users’ perceptions of the site or brand can be positively influenced by the returns policy, and any warranty or guarantee information, which can reassure them that the site is trustworthy. Your information is quite hard to see on the Product page now, make it clearer.

In addition to building attractive and powerful pages, you should focus on marketing strategies. Let me know if you have any questions.

Good luck and have a nice day! Cheers!

Hey there @Benji1o , this is Alexis from Akohub. your store is great! But here are some suggestions on how you can improve your store:

We saw that there’s a lack of visual hierarchy. So, you need to ensure that the most important actions (like exploring e-books or learning more about your content) are easy to see and act on. Right now, the layout is well-balanced, but adding a bit more guidance on the homepage about the e-books’ topics could improve first-time visitor engagement.

In terms of colors, we like that the soft, pastel colors give a calm, inviting feel, which is great for an educational site. To add a bit of emphasis, consider using a slightly bolder accent color for buttons or calls-to-action (CTAs). A deeper shade of orange or a contrasting blue for “Shop Now” or “Learn More” buttons could guide the eye and encourage clicks. Make sure text and button colors are highly readable against the background, especially for users with visual impairments. Slightly darker shades on lighter backgrounds can improve readability.

Your navigation is straightforward and user-friendly. Categories like “E-Books” and “Blog” are clear, and adding a “Shop” section once products are live would create a quick access point to explore available e-books. Don’t forget to add an announcement bar and include important discounts!

Once your collection grows, a search bar would be helpful for users who know what they’re looking for. It’s a small addition that can make a big difference, especially for an educational site with various topics. Since you’re selling e-books, a loyalty program could be incredibly effective in encouraging repeat purchases, especially as you release more content. A loyalty program rewards customers for actions like purchases, sign-ups, referrals, or even sharing your store on social media, turning one-time buyers into loyal fans. Our app, Ako loyalty can help you with this! You can learn more about how our client, Smoosy, increased their revenue by 52% with our app!

Let us know if you have any questions. Good luck!

Hi @Benji1o

Your Shopify store looks like it’s off to a great start! I had a thorough look and here’s my feedback based on your points:

Overall Design

The design feels clean and professional, which is crucial for a store offering “How-to” guides. The layout is easy to navigate, and the homepage draws attention to key areas without overwhelming the user.
Suggestions:

  • Adding a subtle hover animation for buttons and links could make the experience feel a bit more dynamic and modern.
  • Consider including a clear hero banner with a concise tagline to quickly tell visitors what your store offers.

Color Scheme

The color palette works well, but it could feel more cohesive by pairing your primary colors with consistent accent tones (like the same shades for buttons and links).
Suggestions:

  • If you’re using a lot of white, consider adding a complementary neutral tone (like light grey or beige) to create some depth.
  • Check contrast ratios on CTA buttons to ensure text is highly legible.

Navigation

The categories are straightforward and easy to follow. The menu bar placement and structure make sense.
Suggestions:

  • Consider adding a search bar at the top for quick access to specific guides.
  • Ensure breadcrumb navigation is visible to make it easier for users to track their path.

Content (“About Us” Page)

Your “About Us” page has a friendly tone that connects well with potential customers. However, it can feel a bit generic if it doesn’t reflect your unique value proposition.
Suggestions:

  • Share a personal story or inspiration behind the store to make it more relatable.
  • Add customer-focused details, like how your guides can improve their lives or save them time.
  • Include an image of yourself/team or relevant visual storytelling to build trust.

Additional Tips1. Add a “Coming Soon” banner or placeholder for products with a short message like “Exciting guides launching soon—stay tuned!” to keep visitors engaged.

  1. Ensure your footer includes contact details, a newsletter signup, and social links for credibility.
  2. Test your store on both desktop and mobile to ensure smooth functionality and design consistency.

If you’d like visuals or coding tips for improving specific elements, let me know! For now, here’s an idea of a subtle hover animation code for buttons in CSS:

button:hover {

background-color: #FFD700; /* Your desired accent color */

color: #fff;

transition: all 0.3s ease-in-out;

}

This little touch can enhance interactivity without being too flashy.

If you need any other assistance, feel free to reply and I will try my best to help.
Best regards,
Daisy
