I have a question regarding Shopify manual payment methods.
In Help Center, it’s stated that merchants aren’t charged transaction fees when using manual payment methods.
“Transaction fees” here means fees need to be paid to third-party provider, correct? If so, it makes sense because there’s no payment provider in this case.
However, are there any fees that merchants have to pay for Shopify in this case? I want to know what the cost of enabling manual payment methods is (if any).
Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I’m happy to provide some assistance with accepting manual payments, to ensure this gets resolved.
To share some insight, manual payment methods allow merchants like yourself to accept forms of payment beside credit cards. This allows your customers to still place their order online and receive the payment in a way that works best for you. The most common types of manual payments include cash on delivery (COD), money orders, and bank transfers.
With that said, manual payment methods are not brokered by Shopify and are not subjected to transaction fees. To learn more about this, you can check out our Manual Payment Methods document as it touches on this further.
The only time you will be charged fees, is if you decide to enable a third-party payment provider (i.e transaction fees) and/or use Shopify Payments (i.e credit card fees).
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
