Filtering with product options and metafields

Hoping someone can help me with this annoying problem. My store uses the Prestige theme. I’m struggling with filters and have a couple of questions:

Question 1)

Since Prestige stopped using tags for filters, I’ve had to use product metafields for color and size. Which as far as I know do not allow multiple values for one field. For example one pillow I carry in my store is pink and blue stripes. I have to choose whether I want it to show up under ‘color’ filter as blue or pink. It would be ideal of course for it to appear under both. Am I missing something? Is there a way to add multiple values to a field? It seems like it should be a no-brainer.

Question 2)

Assuming there is no solution to the multiple values for metafields. Is there a way to combine product options (variants) and metafields in filters? I have some pillows that have size options and some that only come in one size. So on my pillow collection page “size” appears twice in filters- one from product options and one from metafields. Or is there an app that will combine the varients and metafields into one?
