First time customer discount WITHOUT repeat customers taking advantage

Hello!

In the past, I had a campaign running where if you were a first time customer, you could receive a 15% discount if you signed up for our newsletter. Not surprisingly, there were more attempts from repeat customers trying to take advantage (entering a new email address, changing the spelling of their name in order to save) then there were actual new customers. Those repeat customers are cheap, and exactly the type of customers i don’t want - scamming and lying just to save $5. BYE!!

My question is, are there any apps out there that TRULY are for first time customers? Privy wasn’t very good at identifying who was a repeat customer. If they put in a new email address, they would receive a discount code. I would love to offer this again, without the annoying, cheap customers,

Hey @Mzjess_nicole ,

This is easy to achieve if you have Shopify Plus store.

We just need to create a script using Shopify Script & Shopify Flow app, which can automatically apply discounts if the customer is the first time ordering.

Actually, I just looked into shopify plus, and it is way too expensive for my small business, lol. any alternatives?

Hey @Mzjess_nicole ,

The only other way is to make code modifications on PDP and cart page, but that will only work when the customer is logged.

I remember I did a very similar thing for one of my clients for their store.
