I agree. I’m an adult. I don’t need Shopify to “protect merchants from being overcharged” on shipping. I need a platform with what should be a simple option. Shopify, please fix this!
Topic summary
Problem: Merchants with multiple fulfilment locations/dropshippers are being charged combined shipping rates at checkout (e.g., flat $8.99 doubling when an order includes items from both locations). They want a single flat rate (or free over $100) regardless of fulfilment source.
Platform behavior: Shopify natively combines rates when using multiple shipping profiles or multiple locations within profiles. A staff member suggested using one General Shipping profile with flat rates and ensuring all products and both locations are included; however, merchants report support confirms there’s no native way to keep one flat rate across multiple fulfilment locations, and the issue persists.
Workarounds/apps:
- Third‑party rule apps to enforce fixed/flat rates: ShipZip, ShipMagic (Shipping Customization), ShipEasy, Starshipit. Some users report success (e.g., ShipZip $9.99 plan; ShipMagic for fixed $8.99 across locations).
- Operational workaround: Maintain a single fulfilment location in Shopify and use Shopify Flow + Flowmail to email line items by vendor to each supplier, so shipping is calculated once (by total weight) while vendors still receive their items.
- Policy workaround: Offer free shipping over a threshold and only list items from the second dropshipper above that threshold.
Status: No native fix; feedback “upvoted.” Discussion ongoing. Images show General Shipping setup screenshots.
