Hi I’m having trouble with shopify check out. I need my store to charge shipping per item and even charge per quantity.
I have made each item into its own custom profile but now I am running into the problem that it won’t charge it twice if I order 2 of the same thing. I am on the basic plan so I can’t download a third party shipping app that can help. And since it’s a flat rate there is no weight or package size info i can use to place conditions. Does anyone have a code or has figured out a way of doing this. I would be so appreciative.

You’re right—Shopify only sums up shipping costs when products from different shipping profiles are added. But when multiple quantities of the same product(of the same shipping profile) are in the cart, it doesn’t automatically charge shipping per item.
Since you’re on the Basic plan and can’t use the Carrier Calculated Shipping Rate feature, one workaround is conditional pricing based on either weight range or order price range. You can set this up by going to:
Shopify Settings > Shipping and Delivery > Shipping Profile > Shipping Zone(s) > Add Rate > Use Flat Rate, then select “Add conditional pricing” and set rates based on weight or price.
This should help you get closer to the per-item shipping setup you’re looking for. Hope that helps!
