Looking for an app that will add a free product to the cart for new customers only. We want to give new customers a little welcome/free gift packet, but need a way to make the item show up on their packing list for our warehouse. We use Cin7 in conjunction with regular Shopify (not Plus), so order tags will not work as they will not transfer over to Cin7. I can find many free gift/GWP apps but they are all based on cart value and will not let me filter for new vs returning customers. I do not want to make new customers use a coupon code, it should be automatic. Thanks in advance!

We’re trying to do a similar thing, but for customers who have received an abandoned cart email. The closest app I have found is EasyGift by 506.io
They have a “smart-link” option where you add code to a button, but I don’t think that’s exactly what you’re after. Here’s a link to their rule targeting help center:

As @LAMBERTONES mentioned, the EasyGift app (https://apps.shopify.com/gifter-cart-auto-include) lets you automatically add gifts to your customer’s cart when a trigger is met (cart value, product quantity or mixture). What’s good for you is that you can target rules towards specific customers using a magic link. This means only customers with that link will be able to trigger the rule.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I am trying to accomplish this using Shopify flows, but having difficulty building a flow that satisfies the new customer requirement.

I have a solution that can help with this.
To offer a free gift to new customers on their first purchase, you can set up a “Free Gift with Purchase” offer using the BOGOS app with the following conditions:
- Main condition: Customer purchases at least 1 product for the first time
- Sub-condition: Customer has not purchased any products before (set number of products purchased before = 0)
With this setup, the free gift will be automatically added for first-time customers.
Additionally, the free gift will be displayed in the “Today’s Offer” widget, making it easy for customers to see and understand the promotion.
