Free Trial vs Freemium?

Hey folks!

We’ve been running a Shopify app for a few years now. It currently offers a 7-day free trial, after which it upgrades to a $7.99/month plan. I typically see about 1–2 new installs per day.

I’m wondering if switching from the free trial to a usage-based free plan might help increase install volume. Once someone installs the app, they usually stick around and convert, the real challenge is that I’m just not getting many installs to begin with.

For those of you running stores, would a usage-based free plan make you more likely to try an app compared to a short trial period?

Hey @zahid! That sounds solid plan. But switching from recurring charges to usage based charges totally depends on which type of problem you are solving through your app. Because it’s way more important before switching it.

And in my opinion remaining on Subscription based is best because this increase the stability in the business. Usage base might be risky on your business only if you totally dependent on your app.

By any chance can you share your store url so that I can check it real quick.

When the goal is yield not quality can you afford it.
