GBQ-connect-to-shopify

I have referred to this document https://cloud.google.com/integration-connectors/docs/connectors/shopify/configure but it’s really difficult to understand. The steps are not specific. Can anyone who has configured it before please guide me through step by step config in the simplest way? Thank you. very much

Hi,
This is Richard at PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.

I’d be glad to help you configure the Google Cloud Integration Connector for Shopify. While I cannot access private information or create content that directly references Google Cloud documentation (due to potential conflicts and updates), I can provide a general guide based on publicly available information and best practices:

Prerequisites:

  • A Google Cloud Platform (GCP) project with appropriate billing enabled.
  • A Shopify store with an active account.
  • Basic familiarity with GCP and Shopify administration.

Steps:

  1. Enable the Shopify Connector API:

    • In the GCP Console, navigate to the APIs & Services section.
    • Search for “Shopify Connector API” and enable it.
  2. Create a Service Account:

    • Go to the IAM & Admin section and select Service Accounts.
    • Click Create Service Account.
    • Give your service account a descriptive name (e.g., “Shopify-Connector”).
    • Grant the service account the Cloud Data Loss Prevention (DLP) API Editor role. This role is typically required for the connector to function. You might need to adjust this role based on your specific use case.
    • Download the JSON key file for the service account. You’ll need this file later in the process.
  3. Install the Shopify Connector:

    • In the GCP Console, go to Cloud Marketplace.
    • Search for “Shopify Connector” and select the official offering from Google.
    • Click Launch and follow the on-screen instructions. You’ll be prompted to provide details like your Shopify store URL and the downloaded service account JSON key file.
  4. Configure Data Flow in Shopify Connector:

    • Once the connector is installed, navigate to the Cloud Monitoring section in the GCP Console.
    • Select your Shopify Connector instance.
    • Go to the Connectors tab and click on the Shopify connector you created.
    • In the configuration settings, define the data flow you want to establish:
      • Source: Select “Shopify” as the source of the data.
      • Destination: Choose the GCP service where you want to send the Shopify data (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Storage).
      • Object: Specify the specific Shopify data objects you want to synchronize (e.g., products, orders, customers).
      • Schedule: Determine how often the data should be synchronized (e.g., hourly, daily).
      • Authentication: The connector should automatically use the service account you created for authentication.
  5. Test and Monitor:

    • After configuring the data flow, initiate a test synchronization to verify that data is flowing correctly.
    • Use Cloud Monitoring to track the health and performance of your Shopify Connector instance.

Hoping my solution helps you solve your problem.
Best regards,
Richard | PageFly

If you specifically need the Google Cloud Integration Connector, then you probably need a cleaner step-by-step guide for that exact setup, because the docs can be pretty hard to follow.

That said, if your goal is just to connect Shopify without spending too much time fighting the GCP config, we had better luck using Skyvia for this kind of thing. It was much simpler to set up for standard Shopify data sync/export use cases.

The guide and setup by Google is not really user-friendly. If you’re looking to sync Shopify to BigQuery had have it automatically update, the tool I have been using is SyncRange. It’s the simplest setup I’ve come across.
