Topic summary
Main issue: Merchants receive a warning that connecting the TikTok Sales Channel will overwrite existing TikTok Shop product data, and some encounter errors when linking or relinking accounts.
Key points and limits:
- One-to-one sync: Only one Shopify store can connect to one TikTok account via the TikTok Sales Channel.
- Overwrite behavior: Syncing from Shopify overwrites products on TikTok; updates made on TikTok are overwritten by Shopify data.
- Existing TikTok Shop: The app cannot link pre-existing TikTok products to matching Shopify products without overwriting TikTok data and history.
Recent developments:
- A merchant accepted the overwrite and lost manually added TikTok products; afterward, products were disapproved due to missing weights. Fixing weights in Shopify should auto-resync; approval status and reasons show under “Status for Shop.”
- Multiple users report connection/reconnection errors after account resets; a Loom video shows a red error during TikTok Shop setup.
Support and next steps:
- Shopify notes the channel is managed by TikTok; use TikTok’s support portal for troubleshooting. Shopify can assist only with API-related issues.
- One user suggests AfterShip may help map existing TikTok products without overwrite (unverified by Shopify).
Status: Ongoing, no definitive resolution. Attachments: screenshot and Loom video illustrate the errors.
