Glitch - Customer gets asked shipping address repeatedly when attempting to make a purchase

Problem: For only all of the newly created products, after customer submits shipping address, there seems to be a glitch where it asks for the shipping address again. I was able to replicate the issue the customer was having by trying to purchase the product myself.

Troubleshooting: I did the following…

  • Tried multiple items (results in the shipping address loop issue)
  • Tried changing quantities with item in question remaining in cart (results in the shipping address loop issue)
  • Tried changing the address with same item (results in the shipping address loop issue)
  • Tried purchasing the same product using other addresses (results in the shipping address loop issue)
  • Tried purchasing other products using the same address (works fine, no issue)
  • Tried changing the SKU # and weight (results in the shipping address loop issue)
  • Tried creating a new product and purchasing it (results in the shipping address loop issue)
  • Tried duplicating a product that has no shipping issue (results in the shipping address loop issue)

I have concluded that the problem only happens with newly created (and duplicated) items. All old items can be purchased using the same shipping address or any other address with no problem. We’ve created items manually in the past without problems with the checkout. Do you know if there’s anything I’m missing – or if this is a temporary Shopify issue?

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be happening?
